Salt City Chains was born from a love of adornment and the desire to create unique and one of a kind accessories.
Growing up I was always sneaking into my moms jewelry box and usually getting caught with my little fingers full of rings, bracelets and other shiny baubles.
I started making beaded and macrame jewelry as a preteen. Once I reached high school years I started visiting the Renaissance Festival and reading more about that time in my history books and was bitten by the chainmaille bug. I collected a few pieces as I was able to but continued to make the same sort of strung bead and simple wire jewelry I had been. In 2008 I realized I could make the jewelry I loved so much and began teaching myself from online tutorials and lots and lots of practice.
I opened my shop in 2009 after being introduced to Etsy by a friend and at the urging of many others who said I should "sell my stuff". Since then I've gone through dozens of pairs of pliers, Thousands of metal rings, amassed multiple callouses and expanded my vocabulary of expletives (pliers hurt when I slip!).
All the items I make are made from supplies I have made myself, or sourced from companies and made within the USA. I also recycle shipping materials whenever possible.
I want to cover the world in metal. I like shiny things.
